Rough-In Fittings
Eneready manufactures affordable specialty fittings specifically to provide secure mounting and an air tight seal between ‘whisper’ grilles and the branch ends of central (ducted) ventilation systems: HRV’s, ERV’s, CEV’s and CRV’s. In new construction, these are installed at the rough-in stage; in retrofit, they are used with clamping rings for speedi-sleeve® fittings and power flanges for albo® fittings. These fittings are used at the end of both exhaust and fresh air branches. The duct connection ends of all of these fittings are ‘small end’ so the sheet metal duct can be pushed tightly onto each.
Eneready speedi-sleeve® fittings 4″, 5″ and 6″ø are the most commonly used fittings. Typically they are used in the ceiling although sometimes in walls.
The special 4-5”ø speedi-sleeve® fitting (and the 5″ø branch duct connected to it) is used to help provide extra exhaust air flow through a 4″ø ‘whisper’ exhaust Grille which is located at the end of a long ‘multi-elbowed’ branch.
Clamping rings are available for speedi- sleeve® fittings. For retrofit, the clamping ring is screwed through the finished ceiling from below thereby ‘clamping’ the speedi- sleeve® fitting which has been dropped into a drilled hole from above. This provides a firm anchorage for both the branch duct above and the ‘whisper’ grille installed from below. It also eliminates air bypass which is especially important when the speedi-sleeve® fitting is installed in an insulated ceiling.
Eneready albo® fittings are used for both supply and exhaust air branches when a ‘whisper’ Grille is located high in a partition wall, and typically when that grille is connected to a trunk duct located below. The Power flange (Pf) is used for retrofit although to install the albo® the back side gyproc must be opened.
Here a 6″ø speedi-sleeve® is shown at the rough-in stage.
